Our strong industry links, expert staff and outstanding natural facilities make Sparsholt College a natural choice for the study of habitat, conservation, rural resources management and the environment. Conservation is at the heart of everything we do and our courses provide an entry into the industry for school leavers and adults seeking career change. Further education is offered at Level 2 (1 year)and Level 3 (2 year) whilst undergraduate study is offered in Ecology and Conservation as FdSc and BSc programmes with a part-time top-up route offered for the BSc conversion.
Lectures are delivered by a range of subject specialists and complemented by a number of visiting speakers. Academic learning is supported by regular off-site visits, workshops, lab practicals and the development of industry relevant work skills. Close industry links with organisations including Hampshire County council, Ecology & Countryside Service, Natural England, GWCT, National Trust, Wildlife Trust provide case study sites, practical tasks, networking opportunities and the contacts to undertake work placements.
Our degrees are validated by the University of Portsmouth and provide access to professional level courses ready for a career in the growing sector of conservation management. The College is investing in a new range of renewable technologies such as an anaerobic digester and a wind turbine, which will provide an opportunity for students to be at the forefront of these technological developments.
