Emily Figgins

Level 3 Conservation and Wildlife Management

Future plans: to study a degree in Conservation and Countryside Management at Aberystwyth University

“I have enjoyed spending the past two years with a wonderful group of people who share the same enthusiasm for the countryside as I do and I’m grateful for gaining experience in so many different aspects of countryside management. The practical element of the course is a personal favourite of mine, being able to undertake estate skills, carrying out surveys both on and off-site, and also being given the opportunity to visit places of national conservation and ecological value.

A major highlight for us all was also the study tour to the Cairngorms. We were given the special opportunity to visit and view some of the rarest habitats and species in the UK, including the largest area of the remaining Caledonian Pinewood in Abernethy, going dolphin watching and talking to experts in different areas of this field of interest.

I am now progressing to the next level of my education with a degree in Conservation and Countryside Management at Aberystwyth University. The knowledge and experience I’ve gained from Sparsholt will help give me a head start in learning more about the countryside and conservation.”
