Test Valley Borough Council are committed to supporting skills development in local young people and have a really positive experience of Apprenticeships. Their current Level 2 Business Administration Apprentice is Jordan Boon who has been working with the organisation since June 2013 and is progressing well.

TVBC believes successful training lies in learning by doing everything that is expected from the role, so Apprentices quickly gain experience. Apprentices are also able to spend time with other departments to build up a complete picture of the organisation and their role.

Bekki Bacon from the council says: “Jordan is getting on well and we’re looking to move her into another role very soon. She attends College once a week and we see her applying what she has learned, discussing her assignments and asking questions about the subjects she has covered.

“We have found that Apprentices require different levels of support, and Jordan is well supported by the College. Even with a change in Apprenticeship Liaison Officer, we have been kept informed and communication is good. We are planning to employ another Apprentice in the very near future and won’t hesitate to use the College.”

Jordan was awarded the Apprenticeship Achievement Award at the Andover Achievers’ Awards in 2014.
